The narrator D-503, a loyal mathematician, keeps a journal documenting his dangerous awakening to passion and imagination when he meets the rebellious I-330. This pioneering novel influenced Orwell's 1984 and Huxley's Brave New World with its chilling vision of absolute conformity and the soul's resistance.
